Challenge

With a new publications and Web team on board, Springfield College was looking for a way to modernize the publications process for its four academic catalogs.

In the past, the academic catalog had been maintained primarily in a pre-press application that did not lend itself well to supporting an editorial process involving many stakeholders. In addition, the format made it difficult to publish an accurate and consistent academic catalog on the Internet.

Solution

Digital Architecture provided both a software solution and professional services to help create a new system for academic catalog management at Springfield College.

Springfield College adopted the acalog ACMS™ as its new platform for academic catalog management. Digital Architecture consultants helped transition the college's four 2003-2004 catalogs into the ACMS™ in under three weeks.

Digital Architecture consultants also worked hand-in-hand with the college's publication group to define a new process to export catalog content from the ACMS™ to an outside pre-press company to facilitate publishing printed catalogs. The new arrangement has expanded the capacity of the college to publish its catalogs on time, and to ensure perfect consistency between content in the printed and Internet versions. By outsourcing pre-press, the publications team can now focus its efforts on producing top quality view books and other key marketing materials.

Springfield College launched its four online catalogs using the acalog ACMS™ in December of 2003.
